Anatomy for artists will be the next step after you have experienced painting the hands and the head.
A lot of artists have trouble with the body because it is not a set shape like the head. On top of that, making sure every part of the body adheres to proportions and shadowing rules can be very challenging when we deal with models that are in motion.
With that said, it is not as difficult as you would imagine, either. The trick here is to develop an artist mannequin on your own that you will constantly use. Eventually, you will get to a point where you don’t need references anymore!
Starting from the very beginning, we will learn correct proportions for painting the body as memorizing key measurements is crucial to a good understanding of the human form to build your mannequin.
Then, we can detail the mannequin by looking at muscles groups and how it will flow across the entire body.
Eventually, you will be painting the body with clothing on. There are challenges associated with this but again, it is not as hard as it sounds.
So follow along carefully as we study techniques that specifically deal with anatomy for artists!
